I am so proud!

Josh is in Atlanta right now about to start his first class for his doctoral program, so I (Kara, the wife/best friend) am guest-posting tonight to let you all see some pictures from today. I took over 100 pictures, so these are just a few of them!

I am so proud of Josh, he works so hard in his job, at school, and at home and he still dedicated himself to training hard over the winter for today's triathlon. My favorite thing in the world is to cheer him on, and today was so exciting! I actually enjoyed it more than the marathon because the three different events bring so much energy, and the courses were pretty close so I was able to run and catch him at different spots.

Although he said it was a lot harder than he thought it would be, he gave each event his all and finished strong in a time that he had hoped for.

I am so proud of you Josh, you were awesome today and you should feel great about this victory!

Kara thanks for posting I drove into workt his morning hoping there would be an update on the event.

Josh: You rock! Congrats on completing and in a time you hoped for that is awesome. While you are in Atlanta if you need a dinner partner let me know. I am sure that if you are here for school you will be quite busy though.

I have a feeling there won't be any ribbing from Josh towards Jason the next time we are on the softball field...heavy on the sarcasm!

Thanks for the kind words friends. Yesterday was a great day. I traded the action of swimming, biking, and running for the seminary classroom.

I can't decide which one is more exciting.

Seriously.

Bikegirl. Sometime I'd like to meet you...however...I only go out to dinner with one female...that's been a good rule thus far...the one who holds my life together...Kara.

Plus, it's good for my health. :)

I would be impressed with any preacher who can do a triathlon! Congrats Josh! I would bet there has to be some great sermon fodder going on in your head during such events? 1 Cor. 9:25?

Thanks for all the great PICTURES Kara! My little brain really appreciated this post :) Josh, congrats on your first! Will there be others? Was it a sprint? I am training for one in September, but as it's Texas I thankfully won't need a wetsuit. I also noticed you opted out of the spandex like a true basketball player. Great job to both you and Jason!

Brad,

You are correct. Paul's metaphors of competition, training the body, running, keeping one's eye on the prize . . . all that came alive for me two years ago when I ran my first marathon.

Vanessa,

For the record, Jason did wear the tight tight shorts :) but the bball player in me would not have it.

Too funny.

The sprint was 550m swim, 14.2 mile bike and a 3.4 run.

The swimming was, by far, the hardest element. It took everything out of me.

I am excited for Josh.
Great job brother!

It's clear to me that the reason you crossed the finish line ahead of Jason is because of your marathon experience :)

Congratulations! Finishing is great...But finishing under your goal time is even better.

Your Marathon training buddy,
Drew

P.S. there's still time - Detroit is October 19 :)

Drew,

You were more than my marathon training partner. You were my coach, sage, guru, expert, advanced runner, movivator, elder, model, and guide.

Seriously. Had you not innocently invited me to train with you (knowing you were a superior runner), I would not have run the CRIM, Freep Marathon, or completed this Triathlon.

As for October. I'll will consult the Lord Jesus Christ to see if I have time, space and energy.
