Kwame

Seriously?

I can't believe Kwame Kilpatrick, mayor of Detroit, could be this incompetent. Not only is he in danger of prison time, he's not even capable of breaking the law in an effective manner.

2007 was the year of big political scandal--Republican or Democrat notwithstanding. It looks like 2008 will continue the same song; albeit...with a different verse.

He didn't learn from Nixon, Clinton, or Barry Bonds. America is one of the most forgiving nations in the history of the world. But...one has to confess. Instead, Kwame lied under oath (federal offense) and is now hiding out in his Florida villa (I don't even want to know how be purchased that home).

I love Detroit. I want to see it make a comeback. This kills me.

So, I'm pleading with you, Kwame.

Kwame...please come clean with it. Face your demons. Let the chips fall where they may. If you care about the city more than the little kingdom you've created...this is exactly what you'll do.

This isn't a black thing. This isn't a white thing. This isn't a left thing. This isn't a right thing.

This is about being a man and a leader.

Unfortunately, Josh, a small few are making the issue about race. We hear about people excusing Kwame's actions just because he is black. One man basically inferred on WDIV that if the culprit of a crime is black he gets a pass because he's a "brother". That kind of talk puts a big wedge between improving race relations.

Yet, I completely realize that almost all African Americans don't feel that way. Working in a predominantly black workplace has shown me that for sure. They will call out Kwame for what he did and expect more accountability.

You're totally right though, Josh. Crime is crime whether it's committed by a Republican, Democrat, a white man, or a minority.

We had several instances of corruption in Warren. The former mayor(Mark Steenbergh) was using city funds to landscape his backyard and build a pool.

I think we need to expect our leaders to behave honestly. If they don't, vote for change.

Sin is sin period in this world. Unfortunately, our youth today are not being told the difference between right and wrong in this post-modern world.

We are reaping the "live and let live" attitude of the late 60's and early 70's. Relativism has caused chaos in our society in all classes and economic levels. Parents must get more involved with their children and draw lines in the sand.

Didn't the City see this coming? I had to change the channel during the last election because it was always talking about the moral and ethical issues with Kwame. I think it was painfully obvious what Detroit was getting in re-election. I wish Steve Wilson would go on an I TOLD YOU SO Campaign.

Unfortunately we think that our leaders are above reproach and when they fall, we castrate them upon the altar of public opinion. Too many people are calling for Kwame's head while too few are calling for repentance and restoration.
I thank you for standing upon the call of a Christian and calling for accounting, repentance, and redemption of this man.
He is all of us, one step from grace's door.......

"He is all of us, one step from grace's door......."

If "he" is "us" then we are one heart beat away from hearing "depart from me you worker of iniquity". If "he" is "us" what exactly happened when er were radically born again (if we actually are), that is, what changed inside of us besides adding "church attendance" to the weekly schedule? I do pray he finds true repentance and faith (Titus 2:11-15)... not the counterfit stuff that passes for christianity today and openly mocks God.

Sincere questions written in love..

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, Gal 5:21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Too many of "Christians" today give lip service to the commandments of Christ and are falling into iniquity......

We begin restoration upon acceptance of the gift. The Holy Spirit, counselor, gives us the wisdom and knowledge as we grow to be closer to what we were designed to be. The sins of the flesh do not immediately dissipate but as the change happens within our hearts and souls, as we draw closer to the relationship God designed us for....the sins of the flesh are overcome by the power of the spirit. We will lose these physical bodies when the Kingdom comes, replaced with the perfect bodies we were designed to have. The closer we get to God the more chaotic the world becomes in relation...for we are of this world but not part of it. Our physical bodies will still be prone to sinfulness because they were born into sinfulness.

I do pray he finds true repentance and faith (Titus 2:11-15)... not the counterfit stuff that passes for christianity today and openly mocks God.

I agree with this and think we are looking in the same direction but from different vantage points. I offer my clarification in loving communication with another....not vindictive utterance.

In peace,
Jim

I did not mean to come across so "blunt"--of course, I pray that Kwame comes clean, asking for forgiveness and reconciliation.

And...I pray that we all use this time to examine our own sins of the past...finding the people we've wronged and embracing what we so adamantly demand from others.

Great comments, friends.

Jim...I don't know why...but you tend to come across as angry and vindictive on this blog. Do you mean to?

No, guess I've not put the words down correctly.....a danger on such sensitive grounds....

Chaplain Jim: I was talking about the other Jim--not you :)

You both go by Jim. My fault. Please forgive me.
