Doors

"Well . . . it's a door . . . but it's not a door. You know what I mean." This is just too perfect. My friend, Adam Hill, one of the best teachers of N.T. Christianity I know, showed this to me.

I have thought of sending that door in to David Letterman. He might put it on his show when he does funny signs. It's been there for the whole 7 years we've lived here.

Sara,

Where's the door located? Adam showed this to me yesterday. Ha. I think it's really really useful for teaching.

I'm going to use it in an upcoming sermon series I think.

I think it's in the plaza by Los Quatros. At least that is where I remember it being... and that is what the reflection in the "door" says to me.

yea, it is in that strip mall...I think this "non-door" is owned by Tuesday Morning.

Josh,

Not sure how I have missed your blog but it is really well done. Looks like we know a lot of the same people. Blessings,

Matt

Somehow reminds me of an early 20th century painting of a tobacco pipe by surrealist Rene Magritte, who tauntingly lettered under it: "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" - or, in English, "This is not a pipe."

Yet it is.

We have a door in the workroom of the church office where I labor, which leads to a hallway of Central Arkansas Christian School. For years, there has been a sign on it that door which says, "This is not an entrance to CAC." Finally, fed up with the baldfaced untruth of it, I added a sticky note which said, "Okay, we lied. It IS an entrance to CAC. We just don't want you to use it."

Someone took down my sticky note within a couple of days.

Humorless surrealist.
