I cannot believe that Major League Baseball did this. Moreover, I can’t believe this happened during a Yankees/Red Sox game.

Was this guy really doing his job?

I am a baseball purist(or at least I consider myself to be), but I don't see why managers have to wear a jersey in the first place. If they want to wear a t-shirt and a team starter jacket, it won't hurt anybody. Just look decent to some extent and wear your team colors and logo somewhere. Having a security member enter the dugout during a game is inexcusable.

David,

I'm with you on this. I can't believe the Patriots head coach can wear a worn out sweat-shirt in the Super Bowl and Francona gets summmoned for having a pull-over on top of his jersey.

Ridiculous.

What would MLB 2007 have done to Connie Mack?

He wore a suit and tie while managing every game of his 50+ seasons as manager of the Philadelphia Athletics.

Distracting a manager when the other team has a future Hall of Fame player on 2nd base is not just inexcusable, it is suspicious.

Suspicious is right. Per Connie Mack--great example!

Maybe this dress enforcer lives in the same neighborhood as Tim Donaghy.

i dont know about the MLB issue, but I know the NFL dress code has all to do with the contracts signed for clothing merchandise.

I looked into this when I heard that a NFL coach has to get special approval (usually 2 games a yr) to wear a suit!!

Adam,

That's hilarious that a football coach has to get special approval to wear a suit.

In basketball--the coach wears a suit.

In baseball--the coach wears a uniform.

In football--the coach wears....

I think it would be great if basketball and football coaches had to wear uniforms.

Could you see Rod Marinelli in shoulder-pads or Flip Saunders in a jersey and shorts?
